Robert Randolph photos July 19, Winthrop WA

Post by Jonathan Scherer »

Robert Randolph and his quartet played at The Winthrop Rhythm and Blues Festival this past July 19th, 2025. It was a fabulous show!

They had trouble with their stage sound for the first 20 minutes, the bass player and RR making lots of motions to the stage sound people and eventually Robert called his personal sound guy out to the pedal steel and was talking to him while playing. It sounded great in the audience the whole time though.

I would say 50/50 on pedal steel and Melobar, but maybe it was higher on the Melobar, especially the last half of the show. Started at 10pm and finished at 11:30ish, they were the closers, and followed Samantha Fish.

I am going to try and load some photos, that are resized properly. Hope you Robert Randolph fans enjoy them!

This was during the song Big Women. Yeah you right!
Here is a link to the song but recorded in Portland earlier in the month.
A real catchy tune!

I'm actually more interested in your time travel! Here where I am, it's still July, and August has not arrived yet.

Joking aside, great photos and a great show, I'm sure! Such a talent!
Many play better than I do. Nobody has more fun.

Thanks for the post and pics. I'm going to see him next month on Mountain Stage in Clarksburg, WV. Openers are Patty Larkin and blues guitarist/singer Carolyn Wonderland, who also plays some lap steel. Don't know if she will as an opener for R.R. though! I'll report back.

Great photos! That Bud is a beauty.

Hey, if anyone in the Philly area wants to see him on 9/14, he's playing an outdoor show in King of Prussia. A group my wife and I support was given 2 tix to raise money, so they're yours if you want. Just name your price. - Jim
