NUX Amp Core Studio
NUX AMP CORE STUDIO
I have just purchased this amazing amp simulator, my steel guitar sounds fantastic through it. The pedal features 26 amplifier models including the Fender Twin Reverb, Deluxe Reverb and Super Reverb. I wonder if anyone is using this amp simulator?
The sound quality is amazing while playing my steel guitar through it. The device has its own effects loop and MIDI. You can move the speaker cabinet microphone around and even change the type of microphone.
The HD TFT color screen and graphics are gorgeous. The rotary knobs are aluminum and have a really nice notched click feel when you rotate them.
Pictures are better than words, here is a link to a YouTube video

i have attached a photographic list of the amplifiers simulated in this device.

Re: NUX Amp Core Studio
I have not tried one and it looks interesting. But I don’t understand why almost all of these amp simulators (the new Peavey pedals as well) do NOT have an XLR out. They can’t be effectively run by themselves directly to the board which would give the player a real amp-less option. If they are hooked up through the players amp they are still going to be colored by that amp.
The price does seem very reasonable on these.

Re: NUX Amp Core Studio
Jim, I will post a link to the Amp Core Studio user manual.
The Amp Core Studio can be connected directly to a board or PA system. I am using mine on a FX loop to my Fender 100 Amp. My amplifier effects are disabled. The pedal has a headphone jack, midi output and USB output to connect to a computer using Amp Core Studio software. Dive onto the user manual, I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
For me, tonally the pedal is producing a bright, broad clean detailed sound. I am no expert when it come to using guitar pedals, this pedal really rocks for me!
Here is a response from Google AI with regard yo your observations
Yes, the NUX Amp Core Studio can be directly wired to a mixer, PA system, or audio interface. It is specifically designed to function as an amp-in-a-box, making it ideal for connecting directly to a board (DI) for live performances or studio recording without needing a physical amplifier.

Here are the key details for direct connection:
Output Connection: Connect the 1/4" output of the Amp Core Studio directly to a mixer or PA system.
Cabinet Simulation (IR): The pedal includes 33 built-in cabinet simulations (Impulse Responses) and supports 3rd party IRs. Ensure the IR signal is engaged when going direct to a PA or mixer to avoid a harsh, direct signal.
Live/Stage Use: You can add the pedal to your pedalboard chain and run it directly to the front-of-house (FOH) mixer. It is ideal for in-ear monitor systems or when using Full Range Flat Response (FRFR) speakers.
Studio Recording: The pedal can be connected directly to a recording interface or DAW.
Usage Notes: It is not designed to be used in front of a traditional guitar amp (it can sound unnatural), but it works well into the "power amp in" or "FX return" of an amp, or direct to a PA.

Important Tip: When going direct to a board, make sure the IR (cabinet simulation) is turned ON. If you are using it in front of a traditional guitar amp, turn the IR OFF.

Re: NUX Amp Core Studio
I don't have this pedal, but I have a NU-X Amp Academy. It has these amp models, plus impulse responses. I was able to obtain some JBL D120 IRs. While I have tried my steel through it, especially a Twin Reverb with JBLs (my first amp), I don't use it for steel. I use it for 6 string slide and regular guitar. But I could use it for steel. It is awesome. AND, it does have an XLR output and effects loop.

Re: NUX Amp Core Studio
Hi Richard,
I actually wished I had discovered this pedal before I bought the Peavey Session 400 LTD! The Session 400 is quite expensive and the Amp Core sells for around 99GBP in the UK. I paid 178GBP for the Peavey. I think I am likely to spend more time with the Amp Core, its a gorgeous looking pedal with textured golden paint with glitter flecks and has a heavy clear lacquered top coat. Pretty much scratch proof. It has a huge amount of tonal possibilities. I might have a go at making a demo video of it being used with the steel guitar, alas I think someone with more knowledge than I would do a better job and make a better video. I was attracted to this pedal because it offers the Fender Twin Reverb, Super Reverb, Deluxe Rev models. The other models, (I have not tried them all yet) sound great with the steel too.

Re: NUX Amp Core Studio
Hi Richard,
How do yo find the NUX Time Core Delay pedal? I am assuming you own one.. I am torn on the fence over buying either the Time Core or the TC Electronics Flashback 2. I have been using a Zoom MS-70 CDR multi effects pedal for some time and now starting to look at individual effects pedals I have set my heart on buying the Hall of Fame Rev 2 pedal and have also considered the NUX Verb Core pedal for reverb. Not sure what to do, I can only keep watching review videos. The best resource for information is this forum. The Aquarius Delay pedal from JOYO has also been considered. I dont like the name, it sounds like it an adult toy!
Apologies for my humor.

Re: NUX Amp Core Studio
The Time Core is an awesome pedal. I have it in the effects loop of the Amp Academy. I had a Hall of Fame (not the 2), and thought it was just alright. Not a Big fan of TC pedals. I have a TC Prophet digital delay that is OK, but I prefer analog and tape delays. I will sell it soon. My favorite delay pedal is my UAFX Orion tape delay pedal. I have a NU-X Atlantic pedal that I run in the effects loop of my Nashville 400 or Nashville 112. The reverb in the 400 died, so I use the pedal. I use analog delay on that pedal. I don't use delay much, but when I do, these pedals really do the job.
Other NU-X pedals I have the Plexi-Drive (some rock tunes shine with a Marshall sound), Super Chorus, Horseman. So that's only 6, as I recently sold the Tube Screamer clone they have.
I have 2 pedal boards. The steel guitar bord has the Atlantic, Plexi-Drive, Super Chorus, and sometimes the Horseman which I sometimes alternate with my Digitech Distortion Factory set to Tube Screamer.
My other is for dobro (Gold Tone Preamp for the Gold Tone clip-on mic), and 6 string guitar. The dobro and guitar stuff are separate, but I can link the dobro to go through the guitar stuff. On that board are the Amp Academy and Time Core Deluxe.
Yeah, Joyo stuff sucks. I call them Joke-o.
Plus, the Time Core Deluxe has a 40 second phrase looper.

Charles... Just for kicks, try your steel through the UberHiGain. It'll make your head spin. That's a model of a Bogner Ubershall. Not very practical, but fun.

Hi Richard,
I have purchased York Studio's Fender Twin Reverb Deluxe Impulse Response pack to use with the NUX Amp Core Studio. There are a ton of files to choose from in this pack featuring different microphones etc. Apparently they are the best on the market, lots of videos raving about them. I paid 14.99USD. They are very easy to install into Amp Core Studio. There are only 12 available user slots however, the IR's are deleted easily and new ones can be uploaded into the software in seconds. The custom IR's can only be accessed from Amp Core Studio and not directly through the pedal. I have put my pedals on my amplifier FX loop along with my Goodrich Omni volume pedal, (using passive mode). My set-up now sounds very much better!

Re: NUX Amp Core Studio
Yes, I like the concept of it too.
If you buy one, just be aware that two of us have had pedals where the centre knob had fallen off. My first one that I received from Amazon UK was secondhand and there were scratches in the lacquered finish. The pedal comes with a credit card sized guarantee card, mine was missing. The intetnal packaging looked well thumbed. Amazon gave me a £20 compensation voucher which I will use with another pedal. I think I will buy the Hall of Fame Rev 2. The box it came in, had the plastic wrap intact. Either Amazon or the supplier have a shrink wrapping machine. Just bear this in mind.
Amazon have a habit of sending out damaged goods that have been tampered with. The black knobs are held on by a metal grub screw. One reviewer did not have the grub screw, he had a free pedal from the supplier to review. Amazon sent me a replacement which arrived in less than 24 hours.
If you hear a rattling sound in the box when it arrives, a knob has fallen off! Watch out for the tiny grub screw!
I would go for the pedal. It's fun to use and you can use your York IR cabinets with it. I like that it has a send and return and headphone socket. You don't need to use it with an amp. Put it in the FX loop and only use the 48K IR files with the Amp Core. The pre mixed files don't need much tweaking, they have been tweaked for you. If I buy more IR cabinets, I'll sick to the York Audio files as they have very enthusiastic reviews.
I am thinking of doing a review video, alas I don't think I am the best person to do this.
I now have bucket loads of tonal possibilities. My Peavey Session 400 LTD sounds much better now it's in an FX loop. I would certainly buy the Session pedal again. Peavey never redponded to my support request for the Session 400 pedal. I think thats a bad show for Peavey! I learnt recently to put my guitar volume pedal in the FX loop. It has to be set to passive mode.
I have just taken delivery of a 5m USB data cable to attach my pedal to my PC. I wished the software had been written for Android too. I might be able to use it with Android using an emulator.
Let us know how you get on...
Yours aye.
Charles.

Re: NUX Amp Core Studio
Hi Fred and Richard,
I discovered I had electronic noise from my computer through my USB cable back to to NUX Amp Core Studio pedal when using the Studio software on my PC. Just moving my mouse around or browsing a webpage created noise. Computers are very electronically noisy. The electronic noise was easily fixed using the inexpensive DSD Tech SH-G0`1L USB noise filter. Bought from Amazon, (32.99GBP) its completely eliminated the unwanted noise from the PC.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CSYNSZ3K? ... fined&th=1
I also purchased the Lekato PS-01R battery powered pedalboard power supply, (47.16GBP). It has USB output and USB C input for charging its lithium battery. The idea was to remove any other possible electrical noise from the mains. The power supply appears to be top notch, you can use it while you are charging it up. The battery lasts for a long time before it needs charging which takes around 6 hours. I can see the appeal for a battery powered pedalboard supply, especially for the gigging musician. You dont have to worry about locating a power supply. See photos below...

Re: NUX Amp Core Studio
Eminence Digital have two Impulse Responses based upon Paul Franklin and Travis Troy speaker models. They are less than £10 per pack and feature 7 different microphone models. The IRs were created with the speakers placed in a Nashville 112 cabinet.

Re: NUX Amp Core Studio
I have created a YouTube video comparison between the NUX Amp Core Studio guitar pedal and the Peavey Session LTD 400 steel guitar pedal. I also show some basic suggested settings for the Zoom MS 70-CDR MultiStomp guitar effects pedal, (reverb and delay)for use with pedal steel guitar. I used the York Audio Fender Deluxe Reverb, Impulse Response with Amp Core studio for this review video.
Allowing for my possible lack of steel guitar playing finesse, which sounds better, the Amp Core Studio or Peavey Session LTD 400?
Amp Core Studio needs some patience to get the desired tone, you have many tweakable options. The Peavey Session LTD 400 is a joy to use and allows one to dial in the desired tone quickly. I like them both, equally.
I did not use any equalization in the signal chain with the York Audio Twin Rev IR.
